Hi everyone! Welcome to another edition of my style icon series. This next fantastic lady is the absolute biggest influence on my love for the sixties! I’ve been obsessed with Cher my entire life. When I was a kid, I loved singing with my grandma to Sonny and Cher’s “I got you babe” almost every time that I stayed the night with her. Something about her power and talent really resonated with me as a child. I always felt like she was female empowerment. Beautiful, but also smart, funny, and business savvy. I have seen Cher in concert more times than any other artist in my short lifetime ( Tool comes in a close second ) and each time I’ve been completely amazed. She has the best live show I have ever seen (sorry gaga, you’re in second place!). Her voice transcends time and she is a true style chameleon. Cher opened me up to acceptance of all types of people, if you go to one of her shows you’ll see what I’m talking about. At first I just loved her as an artist, but then I bought The Sonny and Cher Show and The Sonny and Cher comedy hour on DVD and I discovered what an amazing sense of humor she has, I fell in love with her more. Cher is always relevant, shes always reinventing her sound and style. My favorite thing about Cher is that it’s not just about how great she was, it’s about how great she continues to be.
I could ramble on and on for forever about why i am in love with Cher, so let’s just get to it.
