I promised you a recipe, didnt I?
Awhile ago a one of my husband’s friends brought over a chocolate cake. I was skeptical because let’s just be honest, most guys don’t really bake and this guy looks about the farthest thing from a baker extraordinaire. I decided to suck it up and try it out so that I didn’t offend. It ended up being one of the best cakes I have ever eaten in my life! I was totally surprised to say the least, shame on me for having no faith in him. I immediately got the recipe from him which he named “Damn Good Cake”, and rightfully so. I decided to break it out over New Year’s Eve and It was a huge hit with my family and friends so I thought it was just the thing to share! I tweaked a few things to my liking and it was just as good as I remember. This cake is so moist, delicious, super easy, and Sandra Lee Style (semi-homemade).
1 Package Plain Devil’s Food Cake Mix
1 package Chocolate Pudding
4 Eggs
1 Cup Sour Cream
1/2 Cup Warm Water
1/2 Cup Veggie Oil
1 1/2 cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
Ready-Made Chocolate Frosting (or make your own, if you want to be fancy and you have the time)
Powdered Sugar
Fresh Red Raspberries
In a bowl combine cake mix, eggs, sour cream, warm water, chocolate pudding, and veggie oil. Make sure to combine all the ingredients together really well. Fold in the chocolate chips and pour into a lightly greased bunt pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes. Let cool.
Flip cake over onto a plate and give it a little tap, I had to sort of break it loos from the sides but it came out perfect. Smother in chocolate icing, a dusting of powdered sugar, and give it a crown with your fresh raspberries.
You could do so many things to make thing cake your own.
Maybe top it with chocolate chips? Nuts? Coconut?
Once it’s looking super pretty you’re ready to indulge with a glass of milk!

This does look good and I can see the kids enjoying it. Unfortunately I am on a diet for the next month and need to avoid yummy things like this 🙂 Maybe in March I will try it when I allow myself to eat desserts again 🙂
I am following you now and would love for you to follow along.
