One of my favorite ways to incorporate essential oils into my daily rhythm is with the use of room and linen sprays. They are a breeze to whip up, they leave your house smelling divine without the harmful ingredients, and they really stretch your essential oil stash! I love to make seasonal blends to really get into the spirit of things so the minute the leaves started changing here in the Midwest I was whipping up spicy, warm fall scents to spray around the house! I use these little sprays in our bathrooms, bedrooms, and sometimes I even spray them all over myself because who doesn’t want to smell like the best season of the year?!
These little room sprays are so simple to put together, even the most anti-diy person can whip them up pain free but first here are the ingredients you’ll need and a few tips to help get you started!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
Amber Glass Spray Bottles//
Because essential oils pack a powerful punch you’ll want to store them in glass, not plastic. Essential Oils can break down plastic and that could contaminate your oils and make a mess. The dark glass ensures a long and happy shelf life from your precious oils.
Distilled Water//
Because of the impurities in tap water you’ll want to use distilled so that your sprays stay fresh and don’t start to lose their fragrance over time.
Witch Hazel//
Adding this ingredient helps the essential oils and water bind together. You could also use a pinch of salt or a splash of coconut oil.
Essential Oils//
Using the best of the best is so important when it comes to essential oils. The FDA doesn’t regulate the market so a lot of the times oils that you buy on the super market shelves and online are made from artificial fragrances and chemicals, not pure essential oils after all. Impure essential oils can actually work against your health, they are made from all the yucky stuff you’re trying to avoid by reaching for oils in the first place. Our family has chosen Young Living because they have an amazing seed to seal standard and after years of trying all the oils they were our most reach for time and time again. You can read more about YL oils here.
Label Maker//
This one isn’t a must have but it’s super duper handy and will help you keep track of all of your sprays! I purchased this one off of amazon and it’s been a definite game changer.
